Democratic presidential front-runner Joe Biden stated Sunday he wanted to start vetting potential running mates “in a matter of weeks” and that he discussed the pick with former Democratic Prez Barack Obama.

Biden to Discuss Vice Presidential Options, Meets With Obama

Biden’s vice presidential options will include no less than six or seven women who will be subjected to background checks to ensure there won’t “be any snafu,” he told donors at a fundraising occasion held by telephone.

Biden stated at a Democratic debate last week that he would pick a woman for the position, a qualification he reiterated Sunday.

Biden further emphasized that the woman must agree with his fundamental view on policies, along with healthcare, education and the need for the expansive U.S. influence in the globe. He said he shared that kind of common ideology with Obama.

Biden holds a strong edge over Senator Bernie Sanders, his lone remaining competitor for the party’s nomination to go against Republican President Donald Trump in November’s presidential election.

Avoiding from campaigning in public because of the coronavirus crisis that has put almost one in three Americans under orders to stay home, Biden stated he would start broadcasting Monday morning from his home in Delaware.

Those briefings will give Biden a way to provide an alternative to the daily news conferences on COVID-19 held by Trump, whose disaster response Biden has criticized.
