Biden Extends Lead Over President Trump Among Registered Voters: Poll

Democratic presidential hopeful Joe Biden has quietly expanded his lead over Republican President Trump among registered voters, even as the highly contagious coronavirus has all but sidelined the former VP’s campaign, based on an Ipsos opinion poll launched Tuesday.

Biden Extends Lead Over President Trump Among Registered Voters: Poll

The poll carried out Monday and Tuesday of over 1,100 American adults found that 46% of registered voters stated they might support Biden if he had been working against Trump in the November 3 election, while 40% stated they would vote for Trump.

That benefit of 6 percentage points was up from a 1-point lead for Biden earned in a similar poll that was carried out from March 6 to 9.

The outcome suggested that Biden had not been hurt politically from his lack of visibility while the Republican president is in the middle of government response to a pandemic that has infected over 184,000 folks in the U.S. and killed more than 3,700 Americans.

Biden, who doesn’t currently hold office, has been struggling to remain in the public eye as the coronavirus forced millions of Americans inside their homes. While Trump has held daily televised briefings concerning the virus, Biden has had to close fundraisers and different campaign events, and election delegates in many states have delayed their nominating contests.
