U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren stated Wednesday that she would accept a proposal to be Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden’s running mate if the place were offered.
“Sure,” stated Warren when she was asked how she would respond if Biden asked her to serve as his VP.
Biden, who was Barack Obama’s vice president, has promised to choose a woman to be his running mate and stated he would name a committee to help him vet a shortlist of names soon.
Warren endorsed Biden earlier Wednesday.
She ended her own campaign for the White House last month and became known for championing detailed and sweeping liberal changes. Biden has been working to secure the support of more liberal parts of the party ahead of his battle against republican President Donald Trump in the November 3 election.
Several people prone to be in contention for the running mate position have expressed their openness to being considered.
“I would be an excellent running mate,” former Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams stated in an interview Wednesday. Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer also said Wednesday that she was “fortunate” to be considered for the role.
